We are very sad to hear that James Verrinder - one of the founder members of Cottenham Volleyball Club
active player in a number of CVA teams (Rhinos, St Philips, CVC NVL) as well as being involved in the Cambridge
Outdoor Tournament and Beach Volleyball organisation - has passed away. Since relocating to Namibia he was
instrumental in setting up the National Beach Volleyball Team there and attended Olympic Qualifying tournaments
as Head Coach. He will be missed by all his friends in the CVA.
James was a great personality on and off the court, and always helpful with a very friendly attitude towards
newcomers to volleyball. Many of us were fortunate enough to play both opposite him and with him on court.
We would like to pass on our deepest sympathies to all his friends, and especially to his family. He will be
missed by us all - me and my family, St Philip's Volleyball Club, and the Cambridge Volleyball Association. It
has been very moving to hear from other players what an impact his passion for volleyball made on them, and I am
sure he was just the same in his personal life.
He was a true team player, and a credit to the game.
Hamid Sanami (Chairman), on behalf of the CVA.
